A creation that started in 2014 with one man, an idea, some great and reliable friends has now grown into a multiple day event involving hundreds of runners. Peak2Brew is a relay road/trail race that takes place over 2 or sometimes 3 days. It requires teams of at least 6 runners to be committed to running numerous legs or sections of the course, each varying in miles and terrain. The teams follow their teammate along the course in cars or vans, and meet them at the next exchange to swap out runners, hence the relay part of it. The race always starts at a predetermined mountain or ski resort in NY, and ends at Saranac Matt Brewing Co. in Utica. I got involved volunteering for Jason the creator through mutual friends in 2021. By the end of my first race I promise I was just as exhausted as the runners, but I was immediately obsessed with the experience once the race was set in motion. Everyone at the end enjoys great music, beer and conversation. Runners, family members, and volunteers all together enjoying the festivities as the sun sets. Being a part of this as a photographer, I can’t help but see the art in the entire experience. Being able to bring people together for something so good is not an easy feat by any measure. In my opinion it’s arguably one of the hardest creations to create, a good community. Tap the logo to head to their website!
